"Signs and Sounds" featured on Council's online essay, Tacet, or the Cochlear Vertigo 
 

Following workshops conducted at the Sharjah Biennial, where participants from the Al Amal School for the Deaf developed a gestural vocabulary to describe sounds, "Signs and Sounds" is the beginning of an index that collects these sensory-oriented descriptions. These often illustrative gestures account both for the attention deaf persons give to particular sounds and for sign language’s specific regime of experience. These videos also provided the starting point a collaboration with the French choreographer Noé Soulier.
